Connor Clougherty Here at 5 Tool, we talk a lot about influencer marketing and using those around you to promote or showcase your organization. But sometimes there are moments where your organization wants to look inward and celebrate those who made an impact in your space. We have seen this at college and universities , large corporations and non-profits around the Boston area and across the country. Call it an award show, call it employee recognition, but anyway you look at it this is an opportunity to make a fun and creative presentation of those who deserve recognition.
We enjoy the creative challenge of showcasing these individuals and creating content around them. A great example of this practice is how the Joe Andruzzi Foundation showcases their “Game Changers” each year at their annual JAF Gala. They define a Game Changer as “a member of the JAF community who has made a critical difference or impact”. The award recipients can range from whole companies, CEOs of organizations, or longtime supporters and individuals important to the foundation. 5 Tool Productions had the honor of being named a JAF Game Changer in 2024!
For the last few years, 5 Tool has helped JAF produce video content highlighting their Game Changers that will be played at that year’s gala. The recording process for this video usually consists of interviews with the 5 or so winners, and an interview with Jen and Joe Andruzzi themselves. The challenge in the editing process is to take all of this interview content and trim it down to a sub-5 minute video. As for the creative challenges of this type of video is usually found in the overall tone and feel of the video as well as the graphics treatment that we give the intro/outro and winner introductions.
This year’s gala is themed like a late night talk show. Taking inspiration from JAF’s color palette and existing promo graphics, we combined them with a play on the type of bumper graphics you would see on an episode of Saturday Night Live which we thought would play well.
Deliverable content for this type of event is usually one main video showcasing all of the award winners as well as providing the client with any still photography taken during their filming to be used in promotional material.
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s galas are always a major success, raising thousands of dollars in one night for New England cancer patients. We are always so proud to be able to help showcase the great work done by the foundation and their partners.
