Road trips are great. Road trips where you get to play with all the new toys in video production and live streaming? Even better. We had a chance to hit the road for NAB NY and check out the latest and greatest from some of our favorite vendors in the video production space.
NAB is a behemoth of a show. We had only been to the flagship version in Vegas, and while the NY show didn’t measure up in scope, there was definitely something nice about the smaller setting. We had time to actually sit down and talk in-depth with folks from BlackMagic, Teradek, Panasonic, Sony, LiveU, LiveX, and more. That one on one attention and those discussions are critical when you’re talking about big investments in gear.
We’ll do a full wrap-up soon, but a few core things stuck out to us. Everybody is focused on live, and how to go live simply and easily from anywhere in the world. Tons of companies are getting into the live video switcher game, and just as many are trying to develop low-cost encoders.
Another big trend is the move toward automation. It sounds crazy to think about in a field like video production, but even in this hands-on creative industry, people are trying to find a way to minimize staffing needs via technology. PTZ cameras and control mechanisms were everywhere at NAB NY.
Our latest behind the scenes video takes you to the show floor of NAB NY at the Javits Center. Hope y’all enjoy!
